I am licensed in the state of Illinois under Full Practice Authority licensure. This means I am not required to have a collaborative Practice agreement with a physician. This allows me to practice independently.
My practice is limited by law to the functions of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) also known as a Nurse Practitioner.
I am certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This allows me to see patients of all ages.
APRNs are Registered Nurses with advanced degrees and training. We are not doctors. Some Nurse Practitioners have a doctoral degree and technically can be called doctor, but it is not the same as a doctor that you are familiar with.
I have a network of providers who I can refer to if your needs go beyond the scope of my practice.
APRNs can:
Perform Physical Exams
Order labs and Imaging
Diagnose Disease
Prescribe Treatments (See my page on Prescribing/Deprescribing)
Write Referals to Specialists
Provide Follow-up Care
Provide Education
